Instant heirlooms: custom ceramic plates fired with handwritten family recipes (1)

If your family is anything like mine, all their famous recipes are tucked away in over-stuffed folders and recipe boxes…and only the chef knows for sure where they are. How wonderful would it be to start serving some of Grandma’s famous oatmeal squares atop a handmade pottery plate, with the recipe for those very squares right underneath in her sweet handwriting?

The custom recipe plates and serving ware, from Prairie Hills Pottery are pure awesome.

Truly, the gifting possibilities are endless. Scan a copy of Dad’s secret lasagna recipe, and the artisans at Prairie Hill will fire it onto plates for each of her kids or grandkids. Make a custom tray for your aunt as a thank-you for toting along her lemon shortbread melties whenever she comes to visit.

These pieces are also perfect for wedding gifts–create a set featuring treasured family recipes for the newlyweds. And if recipes aren’t your thing (or the newlyweds’), Prairie Hill Pottery will happily emblazon a custom piece with a favorite quote or even a snippet of an old love letter or postcard.

I seriously think I might need a whole collection of these trays and plates of my own. Wonder how many recipes I can get my grandma to write down before her hand gets tired. Of course, I’ll be sure to stop her while she’s still got some energy left to whip up a batch of her legendary gumdrop cookies. –Stephanie S.

What a unique idea. I would love more information on how much the plates and serving ware is. Do you also have the plate stand available?

Hi there! I would like to purchase one of your custom recipe plates; however, I am not able to scan my recipe. Sigh…Should I make my plate selection and just send you a copy of the recipe I would like on the plate? If so, where can I send it? I’m not in a huge hurry as this is a Christmas gift. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi!
I’m looking for a small square (or oval) recipe dish for a short fudge recipe. What are the sizes and prices you offer for either of these shapes?
How much time do you need to fill an order for one or 2 of these?
    Thank you!
