Cookies & Cream Football Cheese Ball Recipe (1)

Another recipe from the archive today folks! And just in time for all those Super Bowl parties you’re planning/attending.

Sweet dips are the first thing I think of when I’m trying to decide what to bring to a party. They’re easy to make, customizable to everyone’s taste by using a variety of dippers, and can be made ahead of time. And I love how versatile a good sweet dip is– you can make so many different variations by adding different mix-ins!

This one is actually more of a cheeseball than a dip…. but tomato, to-mah-to. Whatevs! It’s rich and creamy sweetened cream cheese mixed with a little Oreo crumble and white chocolate chips underneath achocolate-ylayer of more Oreo crumbs.

Call it whatever you want, it’s delicious either way.

I think the BEST part of a sweet dip (or cheeseball ????) is how QUICK and easy it is to make. In my world, that iseverything.

Of course, for most dips, you aren’t doing the decorative shaping and piping that this one requires, but even so– this football still comes together in a snap with very little effort. Here’s the basic rundown on how to make this sweet, simple football that will wow all your party guests!

It starts out like most sweet dips: cream cheese and butter. Make sure the butter is soft. It’s okay if the cream cheese is straight from the fridge, but the butter MUST be soft or else your dip will be chunky. No bueno.Cream those two together until smooth, and then start adding in the powdered sugar one cup at a time.

After that, work on the Oreos.I used my blendtec to crush my Oreos into a fine crumb. You could pulverize the cookies by hand with a rolling pin and ziploc bag if you wanted, but you’ll end up with bigger crumbs. So it just depends on the look you’re going for.

Add a few tablespoons to the dip with some white chips, and reserve the rest for coating the football.

Plop the cream filling right into a big bowl of the Oreo crumbs. You can use a rubber spatula to help coat the the filling and shape it into a ball. I like to use food prep gloves and do it by hand to do it a little quicker.

From there, just transfer it to a serving platter and shape it by hand into a football. Keep the Oreo crumbs near by to patch any sections of white showing through.

Ipiped melted white chocolate on top for the football laces. But I had an epiphany while I was making this one that I just have to share with you guys– I don’t know why I haven’t been doing it all along!

Simply reserve a little bit (about 1/4 cup) of the filling before you add the Oreos and white chocolate chips. Put it in a baggie and use that to pipe on the laces instead of melted white chocolate. It will be so much easier to work with and one less ingredient to deal with in the kitchen!

I love serving pretzels with any sweet dip to give it that irresistibly snackable sweet and salty thing. But you could also do apples, strawberries, graham crackers, and just about anything else you can think of! It’s like eating a less frozen version of Cookies & Cream ice cream, so… you could probably even just use a spoon if you wanted to ????.

Cookies & Cream Football Dip

Yield: 10-12

A sweet cookies & cream cheeseball that pairs perfectly with salty pretzels, apples, strawberries, and graham crackers!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 20 Oreo cookies (regular, not double)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (or mini semi-sweet)
  • optional: melted white chocolate for piping the football laces*

Instructions

Using an electric mixer, cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth and combined.

Mix in the powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Mix until smooth after each addition.

Crush the Oreo cookies into a fine crumb. Place the crumbs in a big bowl.

Fold in 3 tablespoons of the Oreo crumbs and the white chocolate chips into the cream cheese mixture. Scoop the mixture into the large bowl of crumbs.

Use either a rubber spatula or your hands to coat the cream cheese filling ad form it into a ball. Once coated, transfer it to a serving platter, and shape into a football with your hands. Use excess Oreo crumbs to patch any spoyts where the cream cheese is showing through.

Pipe on the white football stitches.*

Keep chilled until ready to serve.

Notes

*Instead of using white chocolate, you could also reserve about 1/4 of the dip before you add the white chips and Oreos for piping. I think this is a better option as you'll have more control using this over melted chocolate, plus it's one less ingredient you need!
