*Prepolymers* (1st post)These are the basic requirements for manufacturing prepolymers is as follows.(1) The reactor should be a pressure vessel provided with rapture disc. (2) Material of construction should be AISI SS 316 which contains molybdenum so as to prevent corrosion from amine attack.(3) The working pressure of reactor should be max. 6 kg/cm2(4) The rector should be provided with vaccum gauge and pressure gauge. (5) The reaction has to be carried out strictly under nitrogen blanketing. (6) The ppm level of nitrogen should be below 10. The nitrogen should be perfectly dry nitrogen. Otherwise you will not get end properties of prepolymers.(7) The reactor has facility of quick heating and cooling arrangement. Preferably heating with superheated steam and chilling with 10 degree chilled water. (8) During reaction a step by step the blanketing nitrogen has to be passed through heat exchanger with the help of vacuum pump to take out excess TDI, if it is TDI base prepolymer.(9) In case of Elastomer resin batches, it is not possible to take out unreacted TDI as per international safety norms. So you have to have an "agitated thin film evaporator" unit to take out excess TDI from unstripped prepolymer.This is a basic knowledge post, just for sake of global progress. It is not restricted to any person or any country.
