75 Family Friendly Whole30 Recipes (Paleo, GF, Dairy Free) - Whole Kitchen Sink (2024)

Finding family friendly Whole30 recipes your whole family will eat can be a struggle. Even finding healthy, real food recipes that are family friendly when you’re not on a Whole30 can be tough all on it’s own! Having some easy weeknight dinners or recipes that are both Whole30 compliant, paleo and something your kids or spouse will eat and enjoy is so important to a successful Whole30.

One of the biggest complaints I hear about Whole30, or just parents who are trying to make a healthy lifestyle switch is that they have to make multiple meals because their kids won’t eat what they make. So they end up cooking for themselves and for their family and that’s a lot of work, and could easily lead to giving up on your health goals. Family friendly meals are so, so key!

These family friendly Whole30 recipes are ones I’ve had my friends with kids look over for their approval, or ones that I know have been made and loved by the entire family – Whole30 or not! And really, couldn’t we all benefit from having a wholesome dinner every once in a while anyways?! These recipes will help you out there.

The recipes included are sectioned by category from breakfast, side dishes, wings, beef… you get the point! Long story short here is that there is definitely something for every family, meal time, and lots of these are quick 30 minute meals, or sheet pan meals, or make great meal prep!

FAQs

Is Whole30 gluten and dairy free? ›

The Whole30 program is 30 days of eating whole foods and eliminate food categories such as grains, gluten, dairy, legumes, sugar, alcohol and ultra-processed foods.

Can you have eggs on Whole30? ›

Foods allowed on the Whole30 diet mostly consist of minimally processed foods, including: Meat, eggs, and poultry: beef, veal, pork, horse, lamb, chicken, turkey, duck, etc. Fish and seafood: fish, anchovies, shrimp, calamari, scallops, crab, lobster, etc. Fruits: fresh and dried fruits.

Can you have quinoa on Whole30? ›

Quinoa falls into the category of plants that we call pseudo-cereals. These products are not botanically grains, but contain compounds that may cause similar issues in sensitive individuals, so they are not compatible with the Plant-Based Whole30. (See also “amaranth” and “buckwheat.”)

Can you have rice on Whole30? ›

No grains.

This includes wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, rice, millet, bulgur, sorghum, sprouted grains, and all gluten-free pseudo-cereals like quinoa, amaranth, and buckwheat. This also includes all the ways we add wheat, corn, and rice into our foods in the form of bran, germ, starch, and so on.

Can I eat bananas on Whole30? ›

What about bananas? Yes, both pickles and bananas are allowed on Whole30. Yet if they are a potential trigger food for you (for instance, the sweetness of bananas sets off a craving for other treats or makes you want to binge on the fruit), then you may consider including them on your “don't eat” list.

Are potatoes allowed on Whole30? ›

Are Potatoes Whole30? Yes! As of January 2021, all varieties of potatoes are included in the Whole30 diet. Yet, the catch is that fries and chips are not included in the diet as they are not considered to be “real” or whole foods.

What is the hardest day of the Whole30 program? ›

Day 10 & 11 – The Hardest Days

These days are notoriously the hardest days on Whole30 because you've gone through almost two weeks of the program, but haven't seen any of the benefits yet.

Can you have peanut butter on Whole30? ›

Though peanuts and peanut butter aren't allowed on the Whole30 program, other nuts and nut butters are. Cashew butter is loaded with nutrients like healthy fats, magnesium, manganese, and copper.

Is hummus OK on Whole30? ›

Traditional hummus is made from garbanzo beans, which are a legume and not Whole30 compatible. However, there are some really yummy hummus-like dip recipes out there, using cauliflower, carrots, or even green peas as a base.

Is popcorn approved on Whole30? ›

CAN YOU EAT POPCORN ON WHOLE30? No — popcorn is made from a whole grain (dried corn AKA popcorn kernels), and grains are eliminated on the Whole30 diet.

Is Chick-Fil-A Whole30 approved? ›

While Chick-fil-A can be very keto-friendly, and many people consider it a healthier fast-food option, their Whole30 options are actually very limited. Unlike fast-food spots like McDonald's or Wendy's, there are no real meat options since Chick-fil-A strictly serves chicken.

What is the alternative to peanut butter on Whole30? ›

Almond butter is the most popular alternative to peanut butter when completing the Whole30 diet. It is a delicious, high-calorie, high-fat food that helps prevent oxidative damage, has magnesium that helps the nervous system, and contains iron that helps your blood deliver oxygen.

Is olive oil allowed on Whole30? ›

Extra virgin olive oil is approved and Whole30 compliant. Regular olive oil (aka pure olive oil) and light tasting oil are also approved by the authors. While on the Whole30 plan, you should avoid most packaged salad dressings and mayonnaise. Most of these products are made with seed oils and are not compliant.

Is diarrhea common on Whole30? ›

Okay, we'll just say it: bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or all three may appear as your gut starts to heal, rebalance, and process your Whole30 food effectively.

Can you eat bacon on Whole30? ›

You can also eat processed meats as long as they don't include any artificial preservatives or added sugars. So when your bacon craving strikes, stick to sugar-free uncured bacon. A hearty meat-based stew with some nutrient-rich avocado makes a great Whole30® meal.

Is gluten-free allowed on Whole30? ›

Yes, the Whole30 Program should be gluten-free if you make sure any processed foods you consume are not made with gluten, including your herbs, spices, and seasonings. Seasonings, in particular, could contain wheat or wheat starch that has not been processed to remove gluten.

Does Whole30 approved mean gluten-free? ›

The Whole30 Approved designation shows a huge number of consumers outside of the Whole30 community that the product or meal fits their dietary standards, including those looking for Paleo, Primal, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, or no added sugar.

Is Whole30 dairy-free? ›

On Whole30, there's no counting calories or macronutrients, nor do you have to measure food portions. But there is an elimination of big food groups, including grains, legumes, dairy, added sugar, alcohol, and desserts.

What can I eat gluten-free and dairy-free? ›

You can eat any foods that do not contain gluten and dairy. These include all fruits and vegetables, meat, chicken, fish, legumes, corn, quinoa, rice, legumes, and nuts.
